We don’t inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.

Do you offer a sibling discounts? No. Instead, we keep the cost of our classes lower than many outdoors programs. We are happy to work out a payment plan and discuss other options with you.
-
Do you have a refund policy?Wisdom Keepers classes take place rain, snow or shine. If we are forced to cancel a class due to extreme weather conditions we will issue you a refund or credit for that class only. There are no refunds due to illness, injury or scheduling conflicts.

Can children under 6 join Apprentice of the Wild and other children programs?Yes, with an adult.
-
Can younger siblings tag along and not register/pay?Five yr-olds must be registered as students and most 4 yr-olds also fully participate and, therefore, must also register. Children age 3 and under do not need to register/pay.
-
Can adults under 6 join Apprentice of the Wild and other children programs?Yes, adults are encouraged to join us at no additional cost.
-
Do children need to have a knife? No, but the second class of Apprentice of the Wild covers safe knife use and a short, easy carving exercise. The ability to use this tool safely and efficiently will serve your child their entire life. I will have extra knives available for use if your child doesn’t have one. Also, as a parent, you are welcome to request that your child opt out of knife use.
-
Do you have any suggestions for a good knife? The knife to purchase is either a locking blade (folding) knife or a fixed blade (sheath) knife. Please don’t bring a Swiss Army type knife that folds without locking, because the blade is susceptible to closing on little fingers. All sporting goods stores carry a variety of knives. I prefer a knife with a comfortable handle for ease of carving and with a simple edge (serrated edges are a gimmick that are hard to sharpen). The best knife for the price (less than $20) is made by Mora of Sweden; the Scout has a hand guard and rounded tip for the youngest students; older children will appreciate the Companion or Classic. If your child does not have a knife, I will have a couple of extra ones for them to use.

Do you offer customized classes or parties?Yes! Please contact us with your interests and we will be happy to work with you. If you are part of a group or have friends that would like to join a class, that makes scheduling something new much easier.
-
Will you travel to offer workshops?Yes! Travel expenses are added to the cost of the course. Please contact us and we’ll be happy to work with you.

What's the weirdest thing you've ever eaten?Chris: I’m pretty fond of ant lemonade. You find a nest of thatch ants, which are common in the NW, and use a twig (like a chimpanzee) to draw them out and then tap them into a glass of water. The ants spray formic acid which tastes almost identical to citric acid. Remove the ants (optional), add some sweetener, and voila!
