Service Description

Welcome to Apprentice of the Wild, a monthly class where children have the opportunity to deepen their connection with nature, develop wilderness skills, and cultivate a sense of environmental stewardship. Through a series of engaging experiences and hands-on activities, participants will embark on an exciting journey of exploration, honing their senses, and acquiring invaluable survival skills. Join us as we navigate the wonders of the natural world and become apprentices of the wild. Meets every second Saturday of the month 8 Sessions: October 14 - June 8 (Excluding January) Time: 10am - 2pm Location: Various locations throughout Topanga Age: 7+ Cost: $70 per session drop-in OR 6 classes for $375 Instructor: Chris Morasky Parents are welcome to join us but not required. This is a mentoring program. We will track coyotes and deer, learn edible and medicinal plants, move silently, feel the natural rhythm of the land, and discover ancient wisdom as we “seek what they sought.” All classes are taught with love, compassion, non-violent communication (NVC) methods, and the inherent principles of living a life in Harmony with the Earth. Some of the experiences your child may have during this series include: Exploring Native and nature immersion games Sensory awareness, expanded vision Silent walking and stalking Tracking and reading animal sign Camouflage Edible and medicinal plants Shelter design and concepts for insulation and weatherproofing Shelter location based on topography Making rope/string from plants for fishing line, nets, snares, etc. Digging sticks and rabbit sticks Primitive hygiene (making soap, toothbrush and comb) Paiute deadfall trap Safety outdoors (poisonous plants, insects, reptiles, bear and mtn. lion) Useful knots Outdoors cooking methods and wild teas Accessing intuition Navigation Traditional and modern stories Wilderness ethics Through this class, children will develop a profound connection with nature, gain practical wilderness skills, and nurture a sense of environmental responsibility. Join us on this transformative journey as we become apprentices of the wild and foster a lifelong love for the natural world.


Cancellation Policy

To cancel your booking for a full refund, you must cancel no later than 30 days before the start date of the offering. All bookings are fully transferable at any time. You must email us with the name and contact information of your transferee. Our offerings take place rain or shine. We do not cancel or refund for inclement weather. We do not offer refunds for COVID-related issues.
