Join us for a weekly adventure where students braid together Ancient Skills, Nature Wisdom and Western Science. Through a series of engaging experiences and hands-on activities, participants will embark on an exciting journey of exploration, honing their senses and gaining an understanding of how modern and ancient knowledge can work together to build a regenerative future. Join us as we navigate the wonders of the natural world and become Apprentices of the Wild. This is a mentoring program that applies ancient skills, nature connection and natural systems to modern questions. It’s a wonderful complement to our Apprentice of the Wild: Bushcraft Lab. We’ll use our senses and some basic scientific equipment to track our local wildlife, learn edible and medicinal plants, move silently, feel the natural rhythm of the land, and discover both ancient and modern wisdom as we “seek what they sought.” Some of the experiences your child may have during this series include: Sit spots Friction Fire Tracking and reading animal sign Ethnobotany Wildlife and Comparative Anatomy Bird Language Mycology Water systems analysis and purification Entomology Microbiology Shelter making Traps and snares Carving Useful knots Cordage Land navigation Wilderness ethics By the end of this course, participants will not only possess valuable bushcraft skills but will also feel a profound connection to nature, a sense of environmental stewardship, and a foundation for a lifelong journey of exploration and learning in the great outdoors.
